Laptops for Chornobyl

An individual fundraising by UkraineNow volunteer Anton Polishko that enabled a vital tech infrastructure for Ukrainian institution affected by war to support the rising educational need for internally displaced specialists

In the wake of Russia's full-scale aggression, Ukraine has endured profound and continuous losses. The Chornobyl Exclusion Zone was also not spared from the war. In February-March 2022, the unique laboratories of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Institute for Safety Problems of Nuclear Power Plants sustained severe damage.

Despite these challenges, Ukrainians continue to battle on multiple fronts, including the educational sector. The administration of the Slavutych branch of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, represented by Deputy Director for Educational Work Mykola Pikhtar, requested material and technical assistance for students in these training courses who face difficult circumstances. Some students were internally displaced as a result of war, forced to evacuated from regions like Zaporizhia, were local nuclear plant was occupied in mere weeks.

Anton Poliushko, one of UkraineNow’s trusted volunteers, replied to the call for help and organized individual fundraising. Thanks to his efforts, 15 laptops were bought and delivered to Slavutych for educational goals.
